Colombian automotive sector grows 14% in April and consolidates its position as an engine of economic recovery

Colombia. In April 2025 , 17,415 new vehicle registrations were registered, which represents a growth of 14% compared to the same month of the previous year, according to the FENALCO and ANDI report.

Between January and April , 67,261 units have been registered, an increase of 20.5% compared to the same period in 2024. The dynamism has been driven by the SUV segments, whose sales increased by more than 30%; pickup trucks, which grew by about 20%; and commercial passenger vehicles, whose license plates increased by almost 43%.

One of the most outstanding data of the report is the growth of electromobility. In April, 1,286 electric vehicles were sold, which is equivalent to more than triple compared to April 2024. Hybrids also showed a positive performance, with an increase of just over 22%, reaching 4,245 units. So far this year, 4,732 electric vehicles have been sold, almost 2.5 times more than the previous year, and 15,709 hybrids, representing an increase of more than 33%.

The regional behavior shows a recovery distributed in different areas of the country. Manizales was the city with the highest growth in enrollments, with an increase of more than double compared to last year. Ibagué registered an increase of 54%, while Mosquera had an increase of close to 47%.

In terms of brands, Kia, Renault, Mazda, Toyota and Chevrolet dominated the market in April, concentrating 53.6% of the total number of registrations. Among the best-selling models were the Mazda CX-30, Toyota Corolla Cross and Renault Duster.

With these figures, the automotive sector is positioned as one of the pillars of the country's economic growth, driven by technological innovation and the growing preference for sustainable alternatives.
