United States. Lucas Oil announced its participation as title sponsor of the No. 8 Richard Childress Racing (RCR) Chevrolet, driven by two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Busch, in the historic Viva Mexico 250 race, which will take place on June 15 at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City.
The event not only represents NASCAR's international return after nearly seven decades, but also a real technical challenge. At 2,240 meters above sea level, the Mexican track demands exceptional performance from engines, cooling systems and lubricants, due to lower air density, rising temperatures and loss of power in naturally aspirated engines.
Lucas Oil, a technical partner of RCR and ECR Engines for more than a decade, will be key to facing these extreme conditions.
"We're always excited to push our capabilities to the limit alongside Kyle and RCR, and Mexico City represents the ultimate test of endurance and performance, precisely the kind of challenge where Lucas Oil products excel," said Brandon Bernstein, Lucas Oil's director of partnership marketing.
"This is one of the most extreme circuits in the world: the significant altitude significantly reduces engine power, and therefore managing braking and engine temperature becomes even more critical. In addition, teams must adjust aerodynamics within NASCAR specifications to compensate for thinner air and lower downforce. It is in these demanding conditions that our competency-proven products can make all the difference. We can't wait to see Team RCR in action."
The collaboration between Lucas Oil and ECR has led to the development of specialized racing lubricants designed to maintain viscosity and performance in harsh environments such as the one at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodríguez.
"With the extreme altitude of Mexico City, the demands on our engines will be unique throughout the season. Having Lucas Oil's expertise and products on our side gives us great confidence to take on this historic race," said Bob Fisher, senior vice president of ECR. "We are more than up for the challenge and excited to return to racing at the Autodromo in front of an international audience, showcasing our high-performance engines in a global showcase."
The Viva Mexico 250 race will be broadcast live on Amazon Prime Video, consolidating an unprecedented event that combines technological innovation, high competition and NASCAR's global expansion.
