Kit developed to optimize the track performance of the 718 Cayman GT4 RS

United States. The experts at the Nürburgring Nordschleife in Manthey developed a new optional kit for owners of the 718 Cayman GT4 RS in the USA, which optimises its track performance and can be ordered via the authorised Porsche Centres, which will also take care of the installation.

The kit is meant to offer an even higher level of performance and confidence to the driver on the track. In addition, both Porsche Experience Centers in the U.S. will offer the opportunity to drive an equipped example of the upgraded model through a driving program open to the public.

Powered by a 493-hp flat-and-naturally aspirated six-cylinder engine, the 718 Cayman GT4 RS delivers a driving experience with racetrack credentials. For customers whose first interest is to set faster laps, the kit offers enhancements to support those goals while increasing the driver's level of confidence in the car.

These include extensive revisions to aerodynamic parts to nearly double downforce to 124 mph, front spring rates increased by 20 percent, and carbon fiber reinforcements on the engine cover to compensate for the additional forces of the larger rear wing, which is positioned on the rear hood above the engine.

An additional position for the spoiler, now a total of four versus three on the standard model, also increases the range of possible driver configurations. At approximately 124 mph, when the rear wing is placed in the performance position intended for track use, the total downforce increases from 196 pounds on the standard 718 Cayman GT4 RS to 372 pounds.

Together with Manthey, Porsche has developed a special suspension with inverted shock absorber for the 718 Cayman GT4 RS that can be adapted for the track. The spring dampers can be adjusted to four different positions, and the rebound and compression stages can also be adjusted without the need for tools. Spring rates on the front suspension have been increased by 20 percent.

The chassis is available in two versions, for cars with and without the optional front axle lift system. Steel brake lines are also a standard component of the kit. This improves the feel of the brake pedal and optimizes the delivery of braking power. Tow loops, specially designed for use on the track, can also be ordered.

Both Porsche Experience Centers in Atlanta and Los Angeles will offer driving programs with the 718 Cayman GT4 RS equipped with the Manthey Kit.
