United States. The new Edelmann Elite line of remote reservoirs seeks to protect hydraulic steering pumps by ensuring a clean fluid supply, reducing one of the leading causes of premature failure in system repairs.
Plews & Edelmann announced the launch of the new Edelmann Elite Remote Reservoirs, a line of remote power steering reservoirs developed as all-new replacements with OE equivalent specifications. The addition expands the company's strategy to offer comprehensive solutions for the repair of power steering systems.
The remote tank plays a key role within the hydraulic system, as it stores the fluid that feeds the pump, removes the air accumulated in the circuit and filters out polluting particles. However, over time, these components can deteriorate due to the heat of the engine compartment and the accumulation of debris, leading to clogging, cavitation, noise, loss of steering assistance and even premature failure of newly installed pumps.
According to the company, the new Edelmann Elite tanks incorporate an integrated filtration system that retains contaminants before they reach the pump, in addition to a sealed casing designed to withstand high operating temperatures and pressures. They also have application-specific connections and mounting points, making it easy to install them in the original vehicle configuration.
Anthony Holguin, Director of Category Management at Plews & Edelmann, explained that the tank is often one of the most overlooked components during a power steering repair.
"The pump, hoses and steering rack are often replaced, but the original reservoir, which still contains contaminated fluid and a clogged filter, is retained. This can significantly reduce the service life of the new pump," he said.
The new lineup includes references 5500RR to 5511RR, compatible with various recent models from Acura, Honda, Infiniti, Lexus, Subaru and Toyota, covering an estimated 9.3 million vehicles on the road.
Tony Edwards, Vice President of Sales at Plews & Edelmann, said the addition of these tanks complements the company's hydraulic steering portfolio.
"We already offer extensive coverage of new steering pumps, so adding the tank was the next logical step. This allows dealers to offer a complete solution with a single brand and helps workshops perform more reliable repairs, reducing warranty claims and rework," he said.
The Edelmann Elite Remote Reservoirs are part of Plews & Edelmann's Total Solution strategy, which seeks to cover all the components involved in a power steering repair – pumps, racks, hoses, coolers, filters and fluids – with completely new, application-specific components. The Edelmann Elite line also comes with a 100-year, or million-mile warranty, supporting the company's focus on improving the reliability of repairs from the first installation.
