Research promoted for the development of electric vehicle lubricants

International. Due to the recent growth of the zero-emission vehicle fleet, TotalEnergies is advancing in the research of lubricants for electric vehicles.

The demand for zero-emission cars in Latin America is growing year after year. For this reason, researchers are advancing in the development of lubricants for electric vehicles.

According to TotalEnergies specialists, the development of this type of lubricant must be based on temperature care. This must be stable to keep the engine at optimal levels.

The issue is to maintain the temperature in the electric motor, this requires an optimal formulation quality in the lubricants, says TotalEnergies.

To achieve this, specialists indicate that the amount of heat generated by electrical energy must be considered so that the lubricant fluids maintain their properties at temperatures of 180 degrees.

To achieve perfect lubrication in these vehicles, the lubricant components must resist contact with a large number of materials contained in the vehicle.

"This is in order to prevent corrosion or swelling."

TotalEnergies researchers pledged to make progress in this area to reach zero emissions by 2050.

In view of this position, the company also pledged that in the coming years there will be specialized products focused on zero-emission vehicles.
