International. NGK Ignition Parts announced the expansion of its portfolio of ignition coils for the aftermarket with the addition of 14 new references for four-wheeler applications.
The new solutions are now available and are designed to cover a wide range of models from brands such as Ford, Nissan, Toyota, Porsche, Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Jaguar Land Rover and Hyundai.
According to the company, these new references will strengthen coverage in globally popular vehicles. For example, the U5593 reference expands coverage on Ford's 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine, present in models such as Focus, Kuga and Puma, which currently have a vehicle fleet of more than 250,000 units.
Likewise, the reference U5307 is designed for 3.6, 4.5 and 4.8-liter engines used in models such as Porsche Cayenne and Cayman, while the reference U5600 applies to 3.0-liter gasoline engines and hybrids of Jaguar Land Rover vehicles, including several Land Rover SUVs, with a fleet of close to 41,000 units.
Together, the new coils cover a vehicle fleet of approximately 1.5 million vehicles in 2026, a figure that is projected to reach almost 1.6 million by 2028. This growth represents significant potential to strengthen the brand's presence in the aftermarket, particularly in the EMEA region.
"The addition of 14 ignition coils will strengthen our aftermarket business by expanding our portfolio to cover many popular vehicles globally and will significantly help increase vehicle fleet coverage in the EMEA region," said Michael Liam Gibbs, Head of Category Management Aftermarket EMEA, Niterra EMEA GmbH.
Ignition coils are critical components in the engine's combustion process, acting as transformers that convert the battery's 12 volts into thousands of volts needed to generate the spark that ignites the air-fuel mixture. To ensure their performance, these devices are designed to withstand demanding temperature and humidity conditions, and are currently divided into two main technologies: single spark and double spark.
Currently, NGK Ignition Parts has more than 450 references covering 88% of the vehicle fleet in Europe and 85% in the EMEA region. According to the company, the new coils maintain the brand's quality standards, offering high electromagnetic tolerance, ignition reliability and a long service life.
The new references are now available at the Niterra Regional Distribution Centre in Europe and were added to the TecDoc platform on 18 March 2026.
