Automotive Transmission Market Share to Reach $120.41 Billion by 2034

United States. The growing automotive sector and increasing number of passenger and commercial vehicles are driving the automotive transmissions market.

The global automotive transmission market size is projected to grow from 67.24 billion USD in 2024 to 120.41 billion USD by 2034, with a CAGR of 6.0%, according to a new report from Polaris Market Research.

A transmission is the gearbox of a vehicle. It is analogous to the gear exchangers and chain systems used in bicycles. Transmission components are always directly coupled to the engine so that its connected belt and gear system can efficiently transform the combustion energy generated by the engine into tangible momentum. In a vacuum, the flammable energy generated by a typical car's internal combustion engine would be too high to start or stop the vehicle. Most transmissions consist of five- to eight-gear positions and a series of gear trains that transmit power to the car without altering the engine's operating speed.

Key findings of the report

  • The automotive transmission market is significantly influenced by the growing acceptance of luxury vehicles.
  • The segmentation of the automotive transmissions market is primarily based on transmission type, fuel type, vehicle type, and region.
  • Based on transmission type, the manual segment is expected to witness the highest compound annual growth rate (CAGR) during the forecast period.
  • By region, the report provides market insights in Asia-Pacific, Europe, North America, Latin America, and the Middle East and Africa.

Factors Driving the Market Growth:

Obtaining remarkable fuel economy: The increasing focus on achieving remarkable fuel economy drives significant advancements in the automotive market. The increase in hybrid vehicle procurement, driven by government initiatives and ecological concerns, presents great growth opportunities for market competitors and contributes to the growth of the automotive drivetrain market.

Increased global traffic: Passenger vehicles feature automated transmission systems because they are easy to use and offer greater convenience. In addition, the increase in global traffic is driving car owners to buy vehicles with automated systems. Therefore, major automakers are investing significantly in research companies to advance automotive technologies that offer a better driving experience.

Introduction of carbon emission directives: Many governments globally have initiated directives on carbon emissions, safety, and light vehicles. These directives have incentivized original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to use components that reduce the overall weight of the vehicle. OEMs use lightweight materials such as magnesium, aluminum, and high-strength steel alloys to reduce weight without sacrificing durability and robustness.
