Melling Hosts Family Event to Promote Awareness of the CARS Act

United States. Melling will hold an event at its headquarters to raise awareness of the challenges of the automotive industry and the importance of the CARS Act, inviting the community to showcase classic cars and hot rods.

Mark Melling, CEO of Melling, returned from SEMA/PRI's "Rally at the Capital" lobbying event, where he reflected on the need to raise awareness of the issues facing the auto industry and the work of representatives in advocating for it.

To address this situation, Melling decided to host a family event at the company's headquarters, inviting the community to showcase their classic cars and hot rods, as well as interact with NHRA Pro Stock drivers. The aim of the event is also to highlight the importance of the CARS Act.

The "Choice in Automobile Retail Sales" (CARS) Act was introduced by Michigan Congressman Tim Walberg. This legislation would prohibit the EPA from finalizing exhaust emission standards for medium- and light-duty motor vehicles from model years 2027 through 2032. Under this standard, automakers would have to reduce their average emissions to 85 grams per mile.

Complying with these regulations would mean that approximately 67% of new vehicles sold would have to be electric by 2032. The CARS Act passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 221 to 197 and now awaits consideration by the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee.

Melling's leadership strongly supports the bill and thanks Congressman Walberg for his efforts in protecting Melling Tool and the entire internal combustion engine industry.
