3M drives innovation in electromobility in Mexico

Mexico. The 3M company held a panel in which representatives of the government and private industry participated to discuss the challenges and opportunities of the automotive sector in the country.

3M delivers innovative technologies, unique solutions and expertise that drive mobility in an industry that is constantly changing and growing.

With this in mind, the company organized the Panel "Future of Mobility: Challenges and Opportunities of the Automotive Industry", to discuss the importance of comprehensive collaboration of those who are part of the industry, and exchange best practices and learnings.

The panel was joined by Fadlala Akabani, Secretary of Economic Development of Mexico City, Odracir Barquera, general director of the Mexican Association of the Automotive Industry, and Francisco González, president of the National Auto Parts Industry, who, led by Julio Muñoz, director of the Transportation and Electronics Division of 3M Mexico, showed the importance of the automotive industry for the Mexican economy.

Francisco González, president of the INA, stressed that 3M is an extremely important partner for the INA and is the best example of handling new materials, which are a necessity of industry 4.0 and new technologies. "We are at a time of dynamism in electromobility producing auto parts, software for electromobility, where we are at a very advanced level."

During his speech, Fadlala Akabani, SEDECO, Government of Mexico City, emphasized that the government of Mexico City has been accompanying the effort of the automotive industry towards the energy transition, specifically towards electromobility, promoting the construction of infrastructure such as charging stations, as well as adapting and improving the electricity grid. He also mentioned that it is important to have fast chargers that allow people to have the confidence of these reserves in their batteries to be able to circulate, thus promoting the use of electric vehicles.

"With more than 100 years of experience in the automotive industry, we know every corner of vehicle design, manufacturing and repair. We have created synergies that allow us to meet the needs of the industry, consumers and the planet. Our products and solutions are driven by sustainability, which has allowed us to stay relevant and at the forefront in this area," said Julio Muñoz, director of the Transportation and Electronics Division of 3M Mexico.
