The Airless Tire Market Continues to Expand

United States. Coherent Market Insights, the global market intelligence and consulting organization, forecasts that the airless tire market will exceed $95 billion by 2031, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.2%.

The increasing demand for fuel-efficient and low-maintenance tires drives this market. The organization expects the demand for airless tires to grow considerably in the coming years due to their fuel efficiency and low maintenance requirements compared to conventional tires.

The popularity of these tires is due to the fact that they do not need air to function properly and therefore eliminate the risk of punctures, significantly reducing downtime for repairs and maintenance.

The airless tire market is driven by the increasing adoption of sustainable technologies in various industries. Airless tires offer benefits such as reduced punctures, minimize tire change requirements, and conserve fuel. In addition, the airless tires are made of sustainable rubber and do not require inflation with compressed air. They also help reduce the carbon footprint derived from the manufacture and disposal of spare tires.

The demand for ATVs and mobility vehicles like ATVs, UTVs, military vehicles is growing at a robust rate, which in turn is supporting the growth of the airless tire market. These sustainable tires offer additional puncture resistance benefits and withstand extreme off-road conditions.

Major tire manufacturers are investing heavily in the development of advanced airless tire designs. For example, Michelin plans to launch Uptis, its unique sustainable tire for passenger vehicles by 2024. These R+D investments and product launches are enhancing the future growth potential of the airless tire industry.

The commercial vehicle segment is expected to witness significant adoption of airless tires in the coming years. Commercial fleets require tires that offer reliability and durability with minimal downtime. Airless tires eliminate the risk of punctures and do not require routine maintenance such as inflation or air pressure checking. This improves vehicle uptime and reduces operating costs for commercial fleet owners. Continued technological advancements to increase the load capacity of airless tires are also driving their adoption in heavy-duty trucks and trailers.

Large vehicle companies such as Tesla are already evaluating the possibility of implementing this type of tire in their vehicles.
