Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems Summarizes 2022 Achievements

Achievement

United States. Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems recapped its accomplishments in 2022, including a LEED Silver certification for the company's headquarters location, a second trophy from the U.S. Department of Energy, and a governor's award for the company's first solar installation.

These achievements are the latest publicly recognized distinctions that reflect the energy, zero waste and sustainability milestones Bendix achieved last year, the company says.

"2022 was an outstanding year for Bendix's energy, environmental and sustainability performance," said Bendix Senior Director, Environmental, Social and Government (ESG), Maria Gutierrez.

"When we set up shop at our Avon, Ohio, headquarters and implemented environmental and energy efficiency improvements in more operations this year, team members contributed to our energy use reduction and waste disposal missions."

"As a result of all our efforts, we continue to reduce Bendix's carbon footprint in North America. The accolades we received are testament to that teamwork and commitment," he said.

Bendix says it managed to increase its use of clean, renewable energy during 2022, allowing for further reductions in the company's use of fossil fuels.

By the end of the year, the company was operating three solar installations, which reduced CO2 emissions and energy costs.

Bendix adds that it made progress on its zero-waste initiatives by integrating additional sites into its performance assessments during 2022.

Eight Bendix manufacturing locations achieved official zero-waste certification for the company's landfills. Those eight sites were joined by Bendix's Avon headquarters location, which achieved certification during its first full year of operations.

Laying the groundwork for Bendix's zero waste program is an ever-evolving ISO 14001 certified environmental management system, the company says.

Bendix says its internal Green Teams, dedicated to raising awareness of environmentally sustainable practices both inside and outside the company, continued their efforts throughout 2022 with multiple events and programs.

In addition, Avon's Bendix headquarters earned LEED Silver certification for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, administered by the U.S. Green Building Council. LEED certification, the most widely used green building rating system in the world, is also a symbol of sustainability and globally recognized leadership, the company says.
