Costa Rica. The company will increase production capacity by 36% for export and the local market.
Between 2022 and 2026, Bridgestone Americas will invest $250 million to expand its tire plant in Costa Rica. This will generate more than 160 new jobs.
This announcement has been celebrated by the foreign investment promotion agency of Costa Rica, CINDE, which in the middle of last year also highlighted the investment of two million dollars of the company and the expansion of the Air Springs production plant, Firestone Industrial Products (FSIP), located in Turrialba. This is intended to create more than 100 new jobs.
"During the last 12 years in the country, we have manufactured around seven million units and we have invested more than US$25 million in our operations," said at the time the general manager of FSIP Costa Rica, José Joaquín Hernández, about the decision to expand the Firestone Industrial Products plant located in Turrialba.
"Attributes such as the socioeconomic climate, the level of specialization and the strategic location of the country have been key factors for the success and growth of our operations," Hernández concluded then.
Firestone Industrial Products chose Turrialba for its strategic location in the country, which includes proximity to ports and high-level educational institutions such as the University of Costa Rica, the National Learning Institute and the Technological Institute of Costa Rica, which provide access to qualified personnel.
Costa Rica is a key location for Bridgestone Americas. It currently has three operations in the country: Firestone Industrial Products in Turrialba, Bridgestone Americas Business Services Costa Rica and the Bridgestone tire manufacturing plant in Costa Rica, both located in Heredia.
