The electric compressor market is projected to be worth $18.9 billion by 2033

International. The market research platform Markets and Markets recently released the growth forecast for the electric compressor market, explaining that this market is projected to reach $18.9 billion by 2033, from an estimated $6.6 billion in 2024 and with a compound annual growth rate of 12.5%.

The growing adoption of electric vehicles around the world, coupled with the expansion of EV charging infrastructure, is accelerating the adoption of electric compressors. As governments and private companies invest in building charging networks and increase charging accessibility, range anxiety associated with EVs is decreasing, leading to increased consumer confidence and increased adoption of electric vehicles.

With more electric vehicles on the road, the demand for electric compressors is expected to continue to grow, thus driving further innovation and market expansion in the automotive climate control sector.

In addition, technological advancements are driving innovation in the design and functionality of electric compressors. Manufacturers are investing in research and development to improve the performance, reliability, and profitability of this equipment, leading to the development of new features such as variable speed drives, intelligent controls, and integrated thermal management systems.

Large capacity compressors are the fastest-growing segment in the electronic compressor market. They are used in applications that require high-performance cooling systems, such as VCL and HPV. A number of companies are actively adopting large-capacity electric compressors to meet the growing demand for efficient and powerful refrigeration solutions.

These compressors are designed to provide sufficient cooling capacity to maintain comfortable cabin temperatures, even in extreme weather conditions, while optimizing energy efficiency to maximize driving range. By integrating high-capacity electric compressors into their vehicles, the OEM can deliver superior performance in climate control without compromising sustainability or the driving experience.

Electric human-powered vehicles, such as trucks and buses, are experiencing strong growth and have great potential, making the growth of large-capacity compressors promising.

Human-powered vehicles are the second fastest-growing vehicle segment in the electronic compressor market. Heavy commercial vehicles (HPVs) include: medium and heavy trucks, buses, and coaches. Electric human-powered vehicles offer a promising path to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving air quality, especially in densely populated urban areas where pollution from diesel vehicles is a significant concern.

By providing efficient and reliable climate control systems, electronic compressors contribute to the appeal and overall viability of electric human-powered vehicles, making them more competitive with traditional diesel vehicles.

Advances in battery technology, charging infrastructure, and vehicle design are improving the feasibility and performance of electric human-powered vehicles, further driving the adoption of electronic compressors in the commercial transportation sector. Regulatory mandates and industry standards aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions are also driving the adoption of electric human-powered vehicles equipped with efficient climate control systems.

Governments around the world are implementing stricter emissions regulations and incentives to encourage the transition to cleaner and more sustainable transportation solutions. Manufacturers of electric human-powered vehicles are under pressure to comply with these regulations while meeting customer demands for comfortable and environmentally friendly vehicles.
