Asopartes held a discussion on female leadership in the automotive sector

Colombia. On March 22, the Association of the Automotive Sector and its Parties commemorated International Women's Day through a discussion on female leadership in the motor sector held in Medellín.

According to the Association, this was an ideal scenario to show the relevance of women in the automotive sector. The space was led by the director of Asopartes Antioquia Section, Tatiana Londoño, as well as Norvy Barreiro, who chairs the Women's Committee of Asopartes. It was also attended by important businesswomen and executives of the city.

Among the speakers invited to address the issue were the Secretary of Women of the District of Medellín, Valeria Molina Gómez, as well as the advisor of Gender Offices, Laura Catalina Londoño. Both spoke about women's rights and their relevance in different areas.

In the same way, a presentation was made in which topics of great importance were touched, having as a central axis women as the new protagonists of the discipline of mechanics, technology and research. It was in charge of Jésica Andrea Isaza López, leader of the Mechanics Department Program of the Pascual Bravo University Institution, and Katherine Bolaño Restrepo, student representative to the Board of Directors of the Pascual Bravo University Institution for the period 2023-2025

To show with facts the role that women are playing in the motor sector, five outstanding women of the guild were also protagonists of this conversation: María Zoraida Gallo, Administrative Manager at H&R Hidráulicas y Repuestos, with a career of more than 15 years; Ana María González Pérez, general manager of Somos Mayor, with 27 years of experience; Lina Tabares, general manager at Megaparts, with a career that has been going on for more than 26 years; Luz Marina Ochoa, administrative manager; and Yolima Villegas Pérez, business administrator, tax administrator and master's degree in Management and Quality and leader of Entrepreneurship at SENA's Center for Advanced Manufacturing Technology, Antioquia Region.

Among the most important conclusions of the event, emphasis was placed on the work that must be done between unions, businessmen and authorities to vindicate women, but also empower them to be able to fulfill and materialize their dreams and projects.

Also, among the objectives set, is the fact of concentrating efforts among all the asopparts so that women are protagonists of the first order and, as a consequence, become generators of employment, obtaining not only individual benefits, but also for the community, the sector in which they work and also as a fundamental part of the development of the country's economy.
