International. Elgin Industries has introduced Elgin Pro-Stock tapered valve springs designed for the General Motors LS Series and Chrysler Hemi high-performance engines.
The new Pro-Stock springs (#RV-107228Q16) feature a tapered design that the company says ensures superior performance and durability while also matching the maximum valvetrain RPM associated with high-performance camshafts.
Unlike cylindrical and beehive springs, Elgin ensured that its Pro-Stock tapered valve springs help stabilize valvetrain dynamics and provide superior damping without wear, interference contact, and other concerns.
With a progressively narrower diameter from bottom to top, each turn of a tapered spring has its own frequency, dramatically reducing load, increasing the maximum RPM capabilities of the spring, and allowing customers to use a more aggressive camshaft. A super-finished surface optimizes the maximum lifting capacity and durability of the springs, Elgin said.
"Engine manufacturers and performance enthusiasts can always rely on the Elgin Pro-Stock brand for the latest and greatest valvetrain technologies for virtually any performance engine, including the full range of modern engine platforms, such as the LS and Hemi engines," said Rick Simko, national sales and marketing manager, Elgin Industries.
