Mexico. Aptiv, a company that offers connection solutions that address needs such as autonomous driving, opened its first Technical Center in Monterrey, Nuevo León, State of Mexico.
It will employ 300 engineers specializing in software development for intelligent vehicle services.
The company creates safety platforms to interpret data from all of a vehicle's sensors, radars and cameras, as well as automated driving functions, which enable intelligent vehicle response.
In its first phase, the company plans to hire approximately 150 engineers specialized in software development for intelligent vehicle services, to which another half would be added to reach 300 employees.
Carlos González, director of operations of Aptiv ASUX North America, said that the creation of this new technical center is due to the need to increase the engineering capacity of the company that produces cameras, radars and lidars for 23 of the 25 most important car manufacturers in the world.
For his part, Samuel García, governor of Nuevo León, said that Aptiv needed to increase its engineering capacity and chose Monterrey as the town with the greatest chances of success.
In October 2022, Aptiv announced an investment of 14.9 million dollars for the inauguration of a plant in Linares, where it manufactures harnesses for electric vehicles, considered part of the brain of new generation cars.
