Due to drought, Chemours halts titanium dioxide production

Mexico. As a result of the severe drought affecting much of Mexico, The Chemours Company announced that it is complying with a government request to temporarily minimize water consumption, which has led to a pause in production at its Altamira Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) manufacturing plant to conserve water for surrounding communities.

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is used for the manufacture of coatings, plastics and laminates; It is a key component of some of the brightest, whitest and most efficient applications on the market: glossy paints, crystalline plastics, glossy laminates and highly durable coatings for the automotive and aerospace industries.

Chemours remains committed to serving customers through its other world-class assets. We work closely with government, business, and community partners to identify and implement short- and long-term solutions.
