Mexico. The National Auto Parts Industry (INA) announced at a press conference that, after Mexico's labor reform, more than 840 collective agreements have been legitimized in the automotive and auto parts sector, less than one hundred days after concluding this process.

It is estimated that there are around 1,200 collective labour contracts registered in the sector, so this figure represents 70% of the total.

The INA also reiterated its commitment to support its partners through the strategic alliance it established with the Pan American Development Foundation (PADF) to accelerate legitimization.

According to the Association, sticking to the established deadlines will allow compliance with what was agreed in the USMCA.

The Association also mentioned that the auto parts sector is the main recipient of nearshoring.

The INA announced that the transformation towards clean energy in the mobility sector could generate an investment of up to 15,000 million dollars for the automotive and auto parts industry for the manufacture of batteries for electric cars, chassis, transmissions and other components.

This, according to the Association, opens great opportunities for the country, which will be reflected in the coming semesters.

In addition, the INA highlighted Mexico's participation in North America as a partner of the United States and Canada after the signing of the USMCA. The Association stated that more than 21% of the value of a U.S.-made car comes from domestic manufacture.

At this point they also mentioned figures that highlight its role as a driver of electromobility, since 80% of the Regional Value Content (VCR) of the Mustang Mach-E and 20% of the VCR of the Tesla are Mexican.

Finally, the Association shared that the employment forecast in the national auto parts industry is 891,000 people by 2023, which – if materialized – will represent a historical record, after the one imposed in 2018 with 886,000 workers.

These data are added to the production figures of auto parts, which reached US $ 107,329 million at the end of 2022.
