Brazil Components Industry Union Projects Lower Investment in 2023

Autopartes industria

Latin America. A positive fact of Sindipeças' projections for next year is the increase in the number of jobs in the Brazilian auto parts industry: 245,800 employees expected by 2023, 1.2% more than the 232,000 with which it would close this year.

The National Union of the Automotive Components Industry (Sindipeças) projects the continuation of the expansion of the sector in 2023, but at a slower pace than in 2022.

Based on a statement on its website, the entity is betting that turnover will reach 188.4 billion reais next year, which means an increase of 5.5% in the year-on-year comparison. This is a significant decrease from the 9.1% growth estimate forecast for this year.

According to the same projections, investments will be lower in 2023. Compared to the estimated R$2.3 billion that the auto parts industry will apply in Brazil this year, the entity projects R$1.9 billion in 2023, a reduction of 17%. In the comparison of 2022 with 2021 (R$2.1 trillion), there was an increase of 9.5%.

If the investment forecast for 2023 is confirmed, it will be the lowest amount since 2020, when the sector was strongly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and invested only R$ 1.1 trillion in the country. A year earlier, the contribution had been R$2.5 billion.

As for the trade balance, Sindipeças estimates both an increase in exports and a fall in imports. The goal is to sell abroad 7,770 million dollars, 5% more than projected for this year (US $ 74,000 million). Purchases abroad should reach US$16.5 billion, 11.3% less than the $18.6 billion estimated for this year.

Consequently, the trade deficit should be $8.73 billion, a decrease of 22.1% from this year's projected value of $11.2 trillion.
