Asociación

International. Panasonic Energy and Mazda Motor Corporation announced the decision to start talks to establish a medium- and long-term collaboration agreement to meet the demand for batteries for electric vehicles.

The two corporations will negotiate an agreement under which Panasonic Energy will supply Mazda with cylindrical lithium-ion vehicle batteries, which will be manufactured at its plants in Japan and North America.

For its part, Mazda will install such batteries in the electric vehicles it plans to launch in the second half of the 2020s.

Kazuo Tadanobu, President and CEO of Panasonic Energy, said: "As the automotive industry rapidly moves towards electrification and leads this macro trend, the collaboration with Mazda is an important step in realizing our mission to contribute to a society in which the purpose of the pursuit of happiness and a sustainable environment are harmonized."

"With our superior technology and extensive experience, we will drive the growth of the lithium-ion battery industry and further accelerate our efforts to achieve zero emissions."
