BorgWarner Announces Production of Components for Electric Vehicles in Mexico

Mexico. BorgWarner Emissions, Thermal and Turbo Systems announced plans to invest in the Ramos Arizpe Campus in Coahuila state of Zaragoza, Mexico.

There it plans to produce battery cooling plates for the next generation of electric vehicles from a German manufacturer.

The news was announced by the president and CEO of the company, Joe Fadool. "We have collaborated with this customer for more than 30 years as a technical partner, contributing to many new technologies that the customer has integrated into their vehicles," he said.

"This significant investment by BorgWarner will allow us to continue to advance, improve and expand manufacturing capabilities and, above all, reinforce the quality and reliability of our products in the eyes of our customers," he added.

Although it did not indicate what the amount will be, it was reported that turbochargers and exhaust gas management systems are manufactured there for the light and heavy vehicle markets.

The investment to produce auto parts for electric vehicles is expected to generate 280 jobs in the areas of engineering, electronics, manufacturing and services.
