ECD Auto Design electrifies classic Mustangs

United States. ECD Auto Design, Land Rover and Jaguar's restoration company, announces the integration of electric motors in the Mustang Fastback and Convertible models.

The classic Ford Mustang lineup will now offer electric powertrain options. In line with ECD's customization model, each classic Mustang will offer a range of powertrain configurations, allowing customers to tailor their vehicles to their preferences.

Elliot Humble, Chief Technology Officer at ECD Auto Design, says, "We are proud to introduce EV technology to our iconic American Mustangs. Our team at ECD is dedicated to meticulously crafting every classic Mustang, making sure they embody both performance and sustainability."

The electric powertrains will be based on ECD's second generation 300hp with direct drive units and will include DC fast charging. High-performance twin Derale coolers are used for optimal flexibility and airflow. The range of the Mustang EV model is approximately 240 km, at full load.

ECD's expertise in retrofitting Land Rover Defender, Range Rover and Jaguar E-Types with EV powertrains has been further enhanced in its second-generation units that will carry over to the Mustang. Distinctive features of ECD's second-generation electric powertrains include:

  • Fast Charging: High-speed charging, going from 10% to 80% in less than an hour, perfect for any lifestyle.
  • Creep Mode: Makes it easy to drive slowly when the brake is released, bringing the driver's experience even closer to a traditional automatic transmission. This feature is also powerful enough to maintain a build-up of ECDs at a stop on slopes.
  • Cruise control: The new electric vehicles will feature cruise control as standard, perfectly in line with the expectations of modern EVs.
  • All-new components: Each model will receive an all-new electrical system made in the USA. In addition, each component has a supplier warranty, which improves customer service time.
  • Changing Driving Modes (Sport, Eco, Normal): Drivers can toggle between three new driving modes, which change the accelerator pedal response, power, and efficiency of the vehicle.
  • Interactive Touchscreen: A true connection to the vehicle, the state-of-the-art display will put real-time data at the driver's fingertips, including accurate information on charging and range until emptying.
