In 2021, Nissan celebrated the production of its 15 millionth engine at the [Nissan](https://www.nissan.com.co/) Aguascalientes Motor Plant, located in the A1 complex. Two years later, the company announced the production of 16 million engines at the same complex. The Nissan Powertrain plant in Aguascalientes is one of the Nissan plants that exist worldwide where the engines of iconic models such as Versa, Sentra and Kicks are assembled. More than 2,700 employees manage to assemble an engine every 23 seconds. That's a total of 200 engines per hour and 3,087 per day. The 16 millionth engine, destined for a Nissan Kicks, is a 16-valve HRK2 model, with a capacity of 1.6 liters and standard transmission, capable of developing an impressive 118 horsepower at 6,300 revolutions per minute. This engine, manufactured with the new Bore Spray Coating technology, the most advanced technology applied in the cylinders of the monoblock for greater durability and power in the combustion of the engine, is the heart of the Nissan Versa and Nissan Kicks models, and its destination is in the markets of Mexico, Brazil and South Africa. - Advertising - To produce these 16 million engines, more than 90 million parts needed to be molded and machined, and high-precision machinery was required to model the parts with nano finishes imperceptible to the human eye and mirror finishes. These pieces are assembled with the mastery of the craftsmen and delivered to A1, A2 and CIVAC. Specifically, each engine is made up of 1,735 components, of which 50% are from domestic suppliers and the other 5.0% come from other markets. Joan Busquets, vice president of manufacturing at Nissan Mexicana, said that each engine is designed and manufactured with the highest Nissan quality standards. "Excellence in Mexican manufacturing, matching the greatness of Japanese engineering, is our strength," he said. "Achieving this milestone reflects the trust our customers have placed in the brand.
