Details 11 October 2023 ![Exports](https://www.aftermarketinternational.com/images/stories/AMI/2023/Exports12.png) *Mexico*. In response to the UAW's announcement that it would not extend the strike to additional plants, the [National Auto Parts Industry (INA)](https://ina.com.mx/) gave new estimates on the impact on the auto parts sector in Mexico.

Due to progress in negotiations with Ford, General Motors and Stellantis, the union decided not to extend the strike to additional plants; hence, the impact on five assembly plants and 38 distribution centers in the United States continues.

In this way, the INA estimates that, at the end of this week, there would be a cumulative decrease of 412 million dollars in the production of auto parts in Mexico, which is equivalent to approximately 0.5% of exports made to the neighboring country in 2022.

"It should be noted that, in view of the relevance of the auto parts sector for the country, the INA has maintained constant communication with the Ministry of Economy of the federal government to promptly follow up on the issue," said the Association, which will continue to provide information based on the events that are taking place in U.S. territory.
